A Mother Dog Left to Face an Impossible Life
The Lelly’s rescue story began with a painful reminder of how vulnerable abandoned animals can become. Si Bao, a stray mother dog, had reportedly been abandoned by her owner before suffering a devastating accident near a railway track. Her hind legs were crushed by a train, leaving her severely disabled and forcing her to struggle through daily life in an already difficult environment.
Her situation was heartbreaking, yet the injured dog did not simply give up. Even after losing the use of her back legs, she continued trying to survive. Her circumstances became even more demanding when she gave birth to four puppies. From that point forward, the lives of her babies became a powerful reason for her to keep going.

Her Puppies Gave Her a Reason to Keep Fighting
Although Si Bao had every reason to feel defeated, motherhood changed her outlook. Her four puppies were healthy when she gave birth to them, and they quickly became the center of her world. Rather than focusing only on her own injuries, she remained attentive to her children and continued protecting them.
Moving around with injured hind legs was extremely difficult. Nevertheless, Si Bao learned to use her two front legs to get around while keeping a careful watch over her puppies. Every movement required effort, but she continued doing what she could to keep them close and safe.
The Lelly’s rescue story is especially moving because her physical limitations never seemed to erase her instinct to protect her family.

Surviving Beside the Railway Tracks
Life near the railway was harsh. Without a secure home, Si Bao and her puppies depended on whatever food could be found around them. Travelers sometimes threw scraps near the tracks, giving the family something to eat, but such conditions offered little security and even less protection.
For an injured mother, this existence was particularly difficult. She had to manage her own disability while also caring for her puppies. Even so, she continued to stay with them and protect them as best she could.
Her story shows how quickly an animal’s life can change after abandonment. A dog that should have had a safe home instead found herself raising a family while coping with serious physical injuries.

Help Finally Arrives for the Family
A major turning point came when Animals Asia, the nonprofit founded by Jill Robinson, rescued Si Bao and her puppies. The organization recognized that the family needed much more than occasional scraps of food. They needed safety, medical attention, and a place where they could live without constantly struggling to survive.
For Si Bao, this rescue meant leaving the dangerous railway environment behind. She was transferred to the organization’s headquarters, where she could finally begin a new chapter away from the difficult conditions she had endured.
Her rescue also gave her an opportunity to be seen for who she truly was: a determined mother who had survived extraordinary hardship.

A New Name for a New Beginning
After her rescue, Si Bao was given a new name: Lelly. The change marked the beginning of a different stage in her life.
She was no longer simply the injured stray struggling beside train tracks. Instead, she became a rescued animal receiving care and attention from people committed to giving her a safer future.
Plans were also made to provide her with wheeled prosthetic support. Because her hind legs had been badly injured, such assistance could help Lelly move more freely and make everyday life easier.
The Lelly’s rescue story therefore became a story not only of survival, but also of adaptation and opportunity.
A Devastating Loss for a Mother
Sadly, the rescue did not save every member of Lelly’s litter.
When the organization found the puppies, three of her four babies had died from high fever. Only one puppy, Muddie, survived.
The loss was another painful chapter for an already struggling mother. Lelly had protected her puppies through abandonment, disability, and life beside the railway. Losing three of them made her story even more heartbreaking.
Still, Muddie remained with her.
That surviving bond became an important part of Lelly’s new life.
Building a Safer Life With Muddie
With the family now under the care of Animals Asia, Lelly and Muddie had the chance to move beyond the difficult conditions that had defined their earlier lives. Instead of searching around train tracks for discarded food, they could live in a safer environment where their needs could be addressed.
For Lelly, the change was especially significant. She no longer had to depend entirely on her front legs while searching for food and protecting her puppy in an unpredictable environment. Her rescuers could focus on her mobility and overall well-being.
Meanwhile, Muddie had survived when his siblings had not. His continued presence gave Lelly another reason to remain strong.

From Injured Stray to Animal Ambassador
One of the most meaningful developments in the Lelly’s rescue story was her new role as an animal ambassador for Animals Asia.
Her life became a way of showing people what abandoned and injured animals can endure, as well as what they can overcome when compassionate people decide to help.
Lelly’s story demonstrates that an animal does not have to remain defined by the circumstances in which she was found. Her injuries were real, and her losses were painful, but neither completely erased the qualities that made her remarkable.
She was still a mother.
She was still affectionate.
Most importantly, she was still determined to live.

A Small Dog With an Unbreakable Character
Lelly’s size makes her story even more striking. She was only a small dog, yet the challenges she faced were enormous. She lost the use of her hind legs after the train accident, survived abandonment, and continued caring for her puppies despite the obstacles around her.
Her resilience became the most memorable part of her journey.
Lelly did not allow hardship to completely control her life. Instead, she adapted to her circumstances and continued protecting her family until help arrived. That determination is what makes her story so meaningful to people who learn about it.

A Second Chance Built on Compassion
The Lelly’s rescue story ultimately shows what can happen when compassion reaches an animal at the right moment. Before her rescue, Lelly depended on scraps and struggled to move along the railway. Afterward, she had access to safety, support, and a community dedicated to her well-being.
Her future was no longer determined solely by her injuries.
Instead, she had people working to improve her quality of life, plans for mobility assistance, and the security of knowing she would no longer have to survive alone.
Although she experienced tremendous loss, Lelly also gained something equally important: a second chance.
Why Lelly’s Story Still Matters
Lelly’s journey is a reminder that resilience can appear in the smallest and most vulnerable animals. Her body was badly injured, but her determination to protect her puppies remained strong.
She showed that motherhood can inspire courage even under extreme circumstances. She also showed that rescue is not simply about removing an animal from danger. It can mean creating a future where that animal is safe, supported, and allowed to live with dignity.
Lelly’s story began with abandonment and injury.
It continued through motherhood, survival, rescue, and loss.
Now, it represents hope.
Her life as an Animals Asia ambassador gives her story a larger purpose, allowing people to see the strength of a dog who refused to surrender to hardship.
